The Cahoon Museum of American Art will host a talk on traditional Cape Verdean textiles on Thursday, July 25, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Barbara Burgo, co-founder and curator of the Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center of Cape Cod, will share the story behind Pano di Terra, a traditional handwoven fabric from Cape Verde. The Pano di Terra has been documented since the 15th century and features beautiful geometric motifs passed down through the generations. In this talk, Ms. Burgo will present examples and images of fabric, and discuss how these textiles hold the stories and values of the people who created them.

Admission to the talk is $15 per person, $5 for members of the Cahoon Museum and/or the Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

Registration must be done via the museum website.

The Cahoon Museum is located at 4676 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Cotuit.
